Race Walk Championship and Sport Clinic
Overview
Come watch the USA Open and Junior National 10 km Race Walk Championships Saturday, May 31 at 7:45 a.m. on the Plaza. Later, participate in a FREE Sport Walk Clinic at 11:30 a.m. Then try out what you learned in the "Try It" 2 km Sport Walk at 12:15 p.m. The $10 registration fee includes a t-shirt and refreshments.
2008 USA 10km Race Walk Championships
The 2008 USA 10km Race Walk Championships for men and women's Open and Junior divisions will be part of the 30th annual Freihofer's Run for Women. The Adirondack Association of USATF will host the national showcase which will feature America's best Race Walkers as a tune-up prior to the 2008 US Olympic Team trials.
Albany's historic Empire State Plaza will be the site for the Certified 1Km loop to be negotiated ten times, with the Open division winners sharing the $3000 prize money. The Fleet Feet SportWalkers, a USATF club will manage the organizational efforts. Come watch the excitement of the seven minute mile race walkers gracefully engage their hips and arms, under the watchful eyes of the judges in the hopes for an approved time by US Olympic standards committee.

SportWalk Clinic
The unique style and techniques of race walking will be demonstrated through a "See it, Feel it, Experience it" free clinic. Learning proper movements to enhance fitness efficiency will be the objective. Weekly SportWalking clinics are conducted at Fleet Feet Sports each Thursday at 6 p.m.
"Try It" 2km Sport Walk
Time to "experience it" by entering your first non-judged 2km SportWalk. A $10 registration for the timed walk for fitness includes a t-shirt along with technique assistance provided by USA Olympic hopefuls along with Fleet Feet SportWalkers club members around the Empire State Plaza 2km loop course.
