Freihofer's Run for Women to feature talent contest for
local musicians and cheer teams
"Spirit on the Course" Competition to Offer Cash Prizes, National Recognition
ALBANY, NY (April 14, 2008) - Ensuring that the 30th annual Freihofer’s Run for Women is the most spirited ever, US Track and Field Adirondack is offering dance teams, musicians, acrobats and other Capital District entertainers the opportunity to line the course on race day and strut their stuff for the runners competing in the event and for the tens of thousands of spectators who will be watching.
The "Spirit on the Course" talent contest will ensure that the Capital District’s cheeriest and most enthusiastic acts are front and center at the Freihofer’s Festival of Races/CapitalCare Health & Fitness Expo, to take place May 30 - May 31. Each week starting in May, contests will be held at Gold’s Gym, Savannah’s and The Hilton Garden Inn’s Recovery Room to determine who’s got what it takes to move on to the next round. Finalists will then compete in an "ultimate talent" cheer-off, to be held during race weekend on the main stage at the Empire State Plaza. Entrees may even see themselves on FOX23!
The competition will award the top three finalists in four categories with cash prizes, products as well as the opportunity to gain national recognition. Anyone and everyone is welcome to enter, all that’s needed is enthusiasm, energy and the desire to show some spirit.
To enter the competition, send a DVD or VHS addressed to "WXXA Spirit on the Course Talent Contest," WXXA 28 Corporate Circle, Albany, NY 12203, or call (518) 857-8205 for more information.
