Answers on Who Can Participate in the Community Walk
We've received a number of questions regarding just who is allowed to participate in the Community Walk.
The answer is: anyone and everyone can participate! While the Freihofer's Run for Women 5k is a women-only event, the Community Walk (and most other events over the weekend) are open to men, women and children. We encourage as many people as possible to sign up for the Community Walk. We also encourage participants to select one of our many participating charities to support.
Please contact Alicia Jacobs at (518) 669-9806, ajmgnt@aol.com with any questions.
Still Recruiting Non-Profits and Walkers
We're still looking for non-profit organizations to be involved in the 22nd Community Walk on June 5th. We'd also love to get as many walkers out on the course as possible helping these great organizations!
Here are 5 reasons to participate in the Community Walk.
1. There is no cost to participate.
2. Very easy to get involved. Non-profits just need to register with the Non-Profit Agency Registration Documents form (PDF)
3. Food, entertainment, shirts, etc provided
4. We also have customized marketing materials available
5. Coordinate a team and raise money. 100% of what you raise goes to charity you select. Great way to raise awareness too. So if you are staff, a board member, a committee member, or a volunteer, please share this information with the non-profit.
Please contact Alicia Jacobs, 2010 Freihofer's Community Walk Non-Profit Recruiter with questions: (518) 669-9806, ajmgnt@aol.com.

The Course
Check In
All walkers must check in at the Community Walk registration area inside the South Concourse in front of the main cafeteria and bus turn-around of the Empire State Plaza in downtown Albany. Check-in begins at 10:30 a.m. on walk day.
Walkers who have pre-registered and collected donations for a Non Profit Group must check-in with that group's coordinator at the tables set up on the Plaza to receive a bib number. Walkers who are not pre-registered but have raised donations may register the day of the walk with the non profit organization of their choice.
Fitness walkers are required to check-in at the Walk Administration tent to receive their bib number.
Non-profit Donation Collection
Walkers are encouraged to walk for one of the registered non-profit organizations. Walkers may print out a sponsor sheet from this web site but should contact their chosen non-profit organization for additional sponsor information. All donations collected should be payable directly to the Non-Profit Organization. Last year, the groups participating in the Freihofer's Community Walk raised approximately $30,000. We appreciate your support in this effort.
