SportsSignup Presents "Kids Helping Kids" Freihofer's Junior 3K Run
Overview
Join the Fun at the 3rd annual Freihofer’s Junior 3K Run! SportsSignup presents this 1.86-mile road race to promote an active, healthy lifestyle for youth girls and boys ages 9-13. It begins at the Empire State Plaza in Downtown Albany at 11:15 a.m. on Saturday June 1, 2013.

Garelick Farms is proud to sponsor the Freihofer’s Junior 3k Run. Garelick Farms is dedicated to encouraging kids to grow up being active and eating healthy. They will be providing weekly tips on nutrition and runner safety. Each participant in the training program who shows leadership and encourages others to be active and eat healthy will have the opportunity to be nominated and selected to win a free entry into the race courtesy of Garelick Farms.
The Junior 3K Run is a professionally timed race and takes place on a closed course and is monitored by Albany Police Department and numerous course marshals along the route to ensure participant safety. A family member is allowed to participate and run along with his or her youth runner. All registered youth runners will receive a box of delicious Freihofer’s chocolate chip cookies and a finisher’s medal. The first 500 registered youth runners will also receive a specially designed 3K Run t-shirt.
New to this year’s Junior 3K Run event is the added benefit of "Kids Helping Kids" with a $10 donation for each registration going to the Melodies Center for Childhood Cancer and Blood Disorders at the Children’s Hospital at Albany Medical Center. Learn more about the Melodies Center here.

Entry
Registration for the 2013 Freihofer's Junior 3K Run is easy with SportsSignup’s 24/7 online system. The fee for each youth runner is $10. Adult chaperone runners are FREE. To find more details and get started, click the button here:
All children must be registered and wearing their official race number in order to participate.
Awards
Awards will be given to the First Place girl and boy overall and to the top 3 girls and boys in the following age groups: 9-10, 11-12 and 13.
3k Course
The Junior Freihofer's 3k Run will take place on a closed course, meaning the roads will be closed to vehicular traffic. In addition, the route will be monitored by Albany Police Department with numerous volunteers and course marshals to insure participant safety.
The Junior 3K Run course is on a portion of the Freihofer’s Run for Women 5K course: West on Madison Ave. into Washington Park then looping through the Park and returning to Madison Ave. The finish is the same as the Freihofer's Run for Women 5k finish line, located 100 yards east of the Madison Ave. overpass at the NY State Museum.

Parking: East Garage on the corner of Eagle Street and Madison Avenue. Access from I-787 is via the Plaza Exit, follow signs to East Garage Parking. From I-787 take the Madison Ave. Exit, turn right onto Eagle St., enter garage on right.
